Music Festivals 2014
Summer is fast approaching and for many this means the promise of at least music festivals. Of course there are some real famous events such as the Glastonbury Festival in England as well as some other lesser known events that would be an amazing experience. There are actually some great festivals in the four corners of the world.
Womex, Cardiff, Wales
This long running festival has been going for some 19 years. Although the artists for this years festival are yet to be confirmed (applications are still being received) expect some local Welsh artists along with some international names to be there. A overall cultural event there are even trade fairs, film screenings as well as an award ceremony
Rainforest World Music Festival (Borneo, Malaysia)
28th- 30th June, 2013
There is no better place in Asia to have a festival then Borneo. This attracts artists from around the world including the Irish supergroup Kila and Spiritual seasons (Scandinavian fusion from Ukraine). So if you love international music and are planning to come to asia any time soon then this festival is for you.
Oslo World Music Festival
Another well respected world music festival coming from Norway. This year there is a Pussy Riot theme, where art as a political statement is being discussed, with the likes of Ksenia Sobchak as well as many others. If you are going for the music there is plenty to keep you entertained including Fatourmata Diawara from Mali, Ana Moura from Portugal and El Gusto from Algeria/France.
Of course there are many more festivals going on around the world including some of the bigger names if you are interested in more mainstream acts, such as Glastonbury although tickets are now officially sold out.
